A new Skype iPhone app called “Skype WiFi” allows users to link to over 1 million WiFi hotspots and pay for only the minutes they use, instead of monthly or weekly plans for using these hotspots. Linking to these WiFi networks costs only $0.06/minute, a small price to pay for use of high-speed WiFi. The $0.06 per minute is paid using Skype credit, which can be bought on the Skype online store. This feature of Skype has already existed on Laptops under the name “Skype Access“, allowing Laptop users to link to WiFi with Pay-per-Minute plans. Their webpage for Skype Access has now been updated to show their new, free, iDevice app. This is a huge advantage for users of iPhones, iPads, or iPod Touches because it allows those users to link to WiFi and download apps, quickly load webpages, and much more. This new app especially helps people who use the iPad as a computer, since they can now gain WiFi access anywhere to load Emails and webpages on the non-3G version of the iPad. Even better: if you find the idea of $0.06/minute WiFi appealing, you can try it for free this weekend only, August 20 and August 21, for 60 minutes.
